Tyler Durden is my hero

As a follow up to my last post, I came across Tyler Durden's 8 Rules of Innovation. It's interesting that I found this article. I guess it's just the Universe's way of telling me "You asked for it? You got it."

Tyler Durden, in case you don't know, is from one of my favorite movies, Fight Club.

My favorite rule is number four,“It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything.”

Is this another way of saying 'simplify'? Get rid of the crap that weighs you down?

The article is all about innovation, but I can easily apply this to life in general. I mean, if I waste time worrying about a life I thought I was supposed to be living, it takes me away from the life I'm living right now.

  1. These past few posts are making me feel like I really need to do that fall cleaning that's been in the back of my head. Sometimes I have to clear out the physical clutter before I can clear out the mental clutter.

  2. I think the universe is trying to tell us something. Or maybe it's just cyclical. Just found this link on dooce http://www.weboflove.org/060309cabride . The last sentences are great "We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware—beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one." Love that.

Good post. I'm kinda partial to rule 7, just replace "sticking feathers up your butt" with "PMP certification" and "chicken" with "project manager" :)

Chelc - that fall cleaning sounds like a good idea. Preferably before company arrives!

I'll all about wasting time worrying about a life I thought I should be living. Something I definitely need to stop doing.
